Power Your Tenovi Gateway
Make sure your Tenovi Gateway is receiving power before taking a measurement with a Bluetooth device we support.
- Gateway is plugged in using the provided power supply adapter. Do not use any other power supply.
- The Gateway has a solid RED or GREEN LED ring light on the the top of the Gateway.
Auto Brightness Adjustment
The Tenovi Gateway Gen 2 has the ability to sense the ambient light levels and adjust its brightness automatically. While in this mode, you may notice the Gateway LED ring blink on and off briefly. This is not an error, it is the auto brightness functioning as expected. On startup, the Gateway will default to automatic brightness adjustment mode, but you can manually select the desired brightness level by pressing the button on the top of the Gateway.
Gateway Basics
Getting Started
- 1. Connect the Gateway power cord to an electrical outlet.
- 2. Plug the Gateway power cord into the Gateway
- 3. The Gateway LED will first flash PURPLE for up to 10 minutes.
This means that the Gateway is trying to connect to a cell tower. Once connected to a cellular network, the Gateway will turn RED. If it goes RED and back to PURPLE , it’s looking for the strongest signal. The Gateway will go from PURPLE to BLUE if it can’t find a signal. Unplug your Gateway and move it to a new outlet that is closer to a window or somewhere you receive good cellular signal
Taking A Measurement
- 1. Take a measurement with the Tenovi device(s) included with the Gateway.
- 2. When the Gateway is RED it’s ready for you to take your daily measurement. The Gateway LED will turn YELLOW while a measurement is being taken, and will flash GREEN when the measurement has been successfully transmitted.
- 3. The LED will remain GREEN for the remainder of the day, however you can take as many additional readings as necessary and all readings will transmit.
- 4. The LED will revert back to RED everyday at midnight, acting as a reminder to take a reading every day.

When Taking a Measurement
Before You Take A Measurement
- Make sure the LED ring on the top of the Gateway is solid RED or GREEN.
- A slow blinking LED ring indicates that the Gateway has not found a cellular network to connect to.
- Measurements taken while the Gateway is in this state may be delayed in transmission.
Taking A Measurement
- Depending on the device(s) you use, the Gateway will spin yellow during or after you take a measurement.
- After a successful measurement is taken while within 20 feet of the Gateway, the Gateway will beep and the LED ring will turn GREEN. This indicates you have taken a measurement and it has been successfully transmitted to your care provider.
Device Specifics
Modem Status Indicator LED
The modem status LED is GREEN with a slow blinking RED LED when the Gateway is powered on but does not have a cellular signal. A GREEN LED with a fast blinking RED LED (blinks twice a second) means the Gateway is powered on and has a cellular signal, which are needed to successfully transmit measurements. For troubleshooting tips, please see the Error Codes section.
Connected Devices
Although not always on, there are 3 indicator lights next to the power adapter port. Whenever a device is connected to the Gateway, at least one of these lights will be on. If only one device is connected, then there will only be one light visible. If there are three devices connected, then all three lights will be visible. These lights will turn off after the device disconnects from the Gateway. Being able to verify if a device is connected to the Gateway or not is very helpful when troubleshooting connectivity or transmission issues.
Auto Brightness Adjustment Mode
The Tenovi Gateway Gen 2 has the ability to sense the ambient light levels and adjust its brightness automatically. While in this mode you may notice the Gateway LED ring blink off and on, briefly. This is not an error, it is the auto brightness functioning as expected. On startup, the Gateway will always default to automatic brightness adjustment mode, but you can manually select the desired brightness level by pressing the button on the top of the Gateway. Manually selecting the desired brightness will turn off auto brightness adjustment mode until the Gateway is power cycled.
Bonding Devices to the Gateway
Certain devices have a pairing step that must be completed before the Gateway can connect and transmit measurements. Please refer to your device’s specific support page on our Support Center for more details.
Estimated Readings
For devices that have the ability to store historical measurements, whenever the clock on the device is reset (such as when batteries are removed), the device defaults to the preset time. So when a measurement is sent to the Gateway and the device has a different time than the Gateway, the reading may come in as estimated on the Tenovi Web App. Please refer to your device’s specific support page on our Support Center for more details.
Device Reissue
- Certain devices have a additional steps that must be completed before the Gateway can connect and transmit measurements. Please refer to your device’s specific support page on our Support Center for more details.
- See our Device Reissue Guide below.
Error Codes
Modem Status LED
Ensure this status LED is Green with a fast Red blink. This means the Gateway is receiving power and has a cellular connection, which is needed to successfully transmit measurements.
If the LED is off, please ensure that the power supply adapter is plugged into a working outlet and the other end is plugged firmly into the Gateway. If problem persists, try a different outlet. Otherwise, contact Tenovi Support for a replacement power supply.
If the LED is Green, but has a slow blinking Red light, unplug your Gateway and move it to a new outlet that is closer to a window or somewhere you receive good cellular signal.
The Tenovi Gateway does not display any letter error codes. For specific device error codes, please refer to the Support Center to find your device’s dedicated support page.
Steps to Whitelist Device
- Prepare the Environment: Ensure that the only device near the Gateway is the one you want to add to the whitelist. All other devices should be at least 3 feet away. Plug the power cable into the Gateway.
- Position the Device: Place the device you want to whitelist as close as possible to the Gateway.
- Activate Whitelist Mode: Press and hold down the button on the Gateway until you see a pulsing white light.
- Take a Measurement: Use the device to take a measurement. Once the Gateway connects to the device, the pulsing white light will stop. You will see the normal connection sequence, and when it is done, a white light will appear near the top of the LED ring.
- Verify Whitelisting: Ensure that the LED ring displays a white section at the top, indicating a successful whitelisting attempt.
- Repeat these steps for each device you need to whitelist. If you need to remove a device from the whitelist, disconnect the Gateway from power, press and hold the center button while reconnecting to power, wait for a beep and flash, then release the button.
