When Taking a Measurement
Before You Measure
- Wash your hands with soap and warm water to increase circulation. Dry thoroughly, as residual moisture can skew results.
- Don’t squeeze too hard as excessive squeezing can dilute your sample with interstitial fluid, which may affect accuracy.
- Consistency matters when tracking trends. Try to test at the same time each day and use the same general area, such as the sides of your fingertips.
Taking Your Glucose Reading
- Lancets are SINGLE-USE ONLY. Discard your lancet after each use.
- Cold hands can restrict blood flow to your fingertips. If you have trouble getting enough blood on the test strip, try warming up your hands before washing them.
- Ideal fasting blood glucose levels for most adults are 80–130 mg/dL before meals, and under 180 mg/dL after meals (2 hours).
- Always store strips in a dry place and close the vial immediately after use.
- If your results seem off, test with the manufacturer’s control solution to verify the device is working properly. The control solution test range can be found on the container of test strips.
Calibrate Your Tenovi Glucometer
In order to ensure your glucometer is providing the most accurate results, you may use the control solution to confirm accuracy.
- On the blue portion of the label of your control solution, it will state whether it is control solution type A or B.
- Check the test strip bottle for the expected range for your control solution. This is not located on the control solution bottle but on the container that has your test strips.
- If the glucose reading is outside of this range, please contact support.

Storage Events
- Tenovi Blood Glucose Meter will store all readings the device has ever taken.
- When the glucometer is offloading large amounts of readings, it may be necessary to take a reading (test solution is fine) to engage the glucometer to offload data. Continue to use the glucometer as normal and the readings will offload with normal usage.
- The Tenovi Blood Glucose Meter is compatible with Gateway firmware 1.4.66 and later. Using a Gateway with an earlier firmware version may cause connectivity problems.
Maintenance
- Clean the meter regularly with a soft, lint-free cloth. Avoid using alcohol or any abrasive cleaners on the meter.
- Store the meter and test strips in a cool, dry place. Avoid exposing them to extreme temperatures or humidity, as this can affect their accuracy.
- Use only the test strips designed for your specific meter model. Ensure they are not expired and are stored properly to avoid contamination.
- DO NOT spray liquid directly on the glucometer.
Device Reissue
- Blood Glucose Meters cannot be reissued as they come into contact with bodily fluids or medication.
Gateway Basics
Getting Started
- 1. Connect the Gateway power cord to an electrical outlet.
- 2. Plug the Gateway power cord into the Gateway
- 3. The Gateway LED will first flash PURPLE for up to 10 minutes.
This means that the Gateway is trying to connect to a cell tower. Once connected to a cellular network, the Gateway will turn RED. If it goes RED and back to PURPLE , it’s looking for the strongest signal. The Gateway will go from PURPLE to BLUE if it can’t find a signal.
Taking A Measurement
- 1. Take a measurement with the Tenovi device(s) included with the Gateway.
- 2. When the Gateway is RED it’s ready for you to take your daily measurement. The Gateway LED will turn YELLOW while a measurement is being taken, and will flash GREEN when the measurement has been successfully transmitted.
- 3. The LED will remain GREEN for the remainder of the day, however you can take as many additional readings as necessary and all readings will transmit.
- 4. The LED will revert back to RED everyday at midnight, acting as a reminder to take a reading every day.

Steps to Whitelist Device
- Prepare the Environment: Ensure that the only device near the Gateway is the one you want to add to the whitelist. All other devices should be at least 3 feet away. Plug the power cable into the Gateway.
- Position the Device: Place the device you want to whitelist as close as possible to the Gateway.
- Activate Whitelist Mode: Press and hold down the button on the Gateway until you see a pulsing white light.
- Take a Measurement: Use the device to take a measurement. Once the Gateway connects to the device, the pulsing white light will stop. You will see the normal connection sequence, and when it is done, a white light will appear near the top of the LED ring.
- Verify Whitelisting: Ensure that the LED ring displays a white section at the top, indicating a successful whitelisting attempt.
- Repeat these steps for each device you need to whitelist. If you need to remove a device from the whitelist, disconnect the Gateway from power, press and hold the center button while reconnecting to power, wait for a beep and flash, then release the button.
